Curator Profile

Mitul Kajaria is an artist with photography as his primary medium of expression and an architect by training. He has worked in multiple genres of photography including documentary, architectural, conceptual, fine art and therapeutic. His work has been recognised internationally and nationally in photography competitions hosted by organisations such as the Barbican, London and IndiaAfrica and has been published in magazines such as National Geographic Traveller India and Better Photography. He has also been a part of multiple group exhibitions held across the world including London, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad amongst others. He was invited to ‘Photo Kathmandu, 2016’ an international photo festival as a participant for a workshop by Lars Willumeit and Salvatore Vitale. In addition to working as an artist, he works with the Satya Art Gallery, Navajivan Trust in Ahmedabad where he co-manages the gallery and is an associate at Rangjyot, the fine arts division.

Workshop Description

A phone camera is a tool with great potential which we will be explored in this workshop.  You will be learning skills like understanding light, composing a frame, handling the camera. The idea is to turn each of those hundred photos that are shot on a weekly basis into a well thought, beautifully composed image. Photographers around the world have used the cell phone camera to produce phenomenal photo stories of diverse nature, the workshop would be looking at and discussing such works as well.

Expected Output:

Participants will be looking at their photographs and will be discussing works as well. Everything that participants will learn in this workshop will continue to be of benefit them throughout their future photography endeavours regardless of which camera you use. And their works will be displayed on the conclusive day of the workshop.
